Curtis Furniture, the UK’s leading manufacturer of hotel bedroom furniture, is expanding its Leeds manufacturing provision with the acquisition of a new 25,000 square foot factory. The seven-figure investment will perfectly position Curtis as they approach their 4th decade. The new space will shorten lead times, increase production capacity and create 30 new jobs as the business continues to grow.

Work has now begun on site, with the extended facility due to be fully operational by January 2026. The new factory space will house a state-of-the-art production line equipped with the latest machinery, including a new beam saw, edge bander and two CNC routing and drilling machines. Curtis Furniture is also investing in new industrial extraction units, a full compressed air system and upgraded LED lighting as part of its continued commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency.

This expansion represents a major milestone for the business, which currently employs 120 people and manufactures furniture for some of the world’s leading hotel groups, including Hilton, Marriott and IHG. The additional 30 roles – including production and operational support across wood machinists, joiners and assemblers – will strengthen the company’s position as one of the region’s most significant employers in the manufacturing sector.

Head of operations Paul Tierney, who is overseeing the expansion project, said: “As Curtis continues to grow, this investment ensures we have the capacity, technology and skilled workforce to deliver at scale. Expanding our manufacturing footprint by a further 25,000 square feet and bringing 30 new jobs to Leeds shows our commitment to driving growth in UK manufacturing. This investment will massively speed up our lead times, improve efficiency and support our sustainability goals, while firmly securing Curtis Furniture’s position as the UK’s largest hotel bedroom furniture manufacturer.”
